How to move objects in Vectric software | Transforming Objects

This video demonstrates how to move selected objects in Vectric Aspire using the Move Selected Objects form and interactive coordinate fields. It covers absolute positioning, relative moves, and moving along rotated axes.

  1. Select the object on the worksheet.
  2. Open the Move Selected Objects form by pressing M on the keyboard, or via menu.
  3. Choose an anchor point – the form shows the absolute X/Y position of the selected anchor (e.g., center, bottom-left).
  4. For absolute movement:
    • Enter the desired X and Y coordinates.
    • Click Apply – the object moves so the selected anchor is at those coordinates.
  5. For relative movement:
    • Select the Relative option.
    • Enter the X and Y offsets.
    • Click Apply – the object shifts by those amounts from its current position.
  6. For movement relative to a rotated object:
    • Rotate the object first using transform handles.
    • Use the Relative rotated option.
    • Enter offsets in X/Y – the object moves along its own rotated axes, not the worksheet axes.
  7. Use the on-screen coordinate fields in the bottom-right corner or by clicking the anchor position indicator to type exact X/Y values and press Enter to move the object in the 3D view.
  • Absolute move positions the chosen anchor point at the specified worksheet coordinates.
  • Anchor point location matters – changing the anchor changes what the coordinates refer to.
  • Relative move offsets from current position; negative values move in the opposite direction.
  • Relative rotated moves along the object’s rotated coordinate system – verify rotation before using.
  • You can click an anchor point in the 3D view to see/change its current coordinates.
  • The worksheet in the example is 10×10 inches, center at (5,5).
  • Use the apply button to execute moves; entering values in the 3D view fields applies immediately on Enter.
