How to edit text spacing in Vectric software | Creating Vectors

Overview

This video shows how to edit character spacing, line spacing, and text arcs in Vectric Aspire using the “Draw Text” tool. It covers kerning individual or all characters, adjusting line spacing, arcing text with handles, and editing existing text objects.

Steps

1. Go to the Design tab and click the Create Vectors icon, then select the Draw Text tool.
2. Enter your text, e.g., “Vectric” and “Software,” and close the text form.
3. To edit character spacing:
   • Click between two letters. When the cursor arrows point toward each other, click the left mouse button to decrease spacing.
   • Hold Shift so the arrows point away from each other, then click to increase spacing.
   • Hold Ctrl while clicking to apply larger spacing increments.
4. To apply spacing changes to all characters at once:
   • Hold Shift + Alt and click to increase spacing across the entire text.
   • Hold Alt (without Shift) and click to decrease spacing across all characters.
5. To edit line spacing:
   • Click between lines to bring them closer together.
   • Hold Shift while clicking to move lines farther apart.
   • Use Ctrl to change line spacing in larger increments.
6. To arc text:
   • Use the green handles on the top or bottom of the text block. Drag the top handle upward to arc the text upward; drag the bottom handle downward to arc it downward.
   • After arcing, white handles move the text, the red handle rotates it around the arc center, and the blue handle adjusts the arc radius without moving the arc center.
   • Hold Ctrl while dragging the red handle to snap rotation in 15° increments.
