The effective use of the distort tool in the Aspire Software
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This tutorial explains how to use the Distort tool on 3D components in Vectric Aspire V12. It covers node-based envelope distortion, distorting along a single vector and between two vectors, plus practical examples: creating a folded ribbon/banner, turning a book page, and modifying clipart models like an eagle.
Basic Distort Workflow
Section titled “Basic Distort Workflow”- Import or select a 3D component. Make a duplicate if you want a before/after comparison.
- Select the component and click the Distort icon.
- Use the I key to insert a node at the center point of a span.
- Select nodes and press S to convert them to Bézier curves for smoother transitions.
- Drag nodes to reshape the component. Use the wireframe mesh to preview the deformation.
- When satisfied, Bake the distortion.
