How to group and ungroup vectors in Vectric software | Editing Objects

This video demonstrates how to group and ungroup vectors in Vectric Aspire, including grouping for easy movement, layer behavior when grouping/ungrouping, and the available shortcuts and right-click options.

  1. Select one or more individual vectors (dashed outline indicates individual objects).
  2. Click the Group selected objects button on the toolbar (or press G) to group them.
  3. After grouping, select the group (solid outline) and move or scale it as one object using the handles or transform tools.
  4. To ungroup, click the Ungroup selected objects button (or press U).
  5. To group multiple vectors on different layers:
    • Shift-click each vector, or drag a selection window to enclose them.
    • Group using either of the methods above.
  6. If you right-click a grouped set of vectors and choose Move to layer, you can place the entire group on a different layer.
  7. When ungrouping via right-click, choose between:
    • Ungroup onto original object layers – returns each vector to the layer it was on before grouping.
    • Ungroup onto this layer – keeps all ungrouped vectors on the current layer.
  • Individual vectors have dashed outlines; grouped vectors show as one solid outline.
  • Grouping lets you move, scale, and transform multiple vectors as a single unit.
  • Ctrl+Z can undo a grouping/ungrouping operation.
  • Grouping does not merge layers; the group can be moved as a whole, but layer assignment is handled when ungrouping.
  • When ungrouping a group that spans multiple layers, use Ungroup onto original object layers to preserve the original layer distribution.
  • Keyboard shortcuts: G = group, U = ungroup.
