How to create text in Vectric software | Creating Vectors

This video demonstrates how to create text in Vectric software using the Draw Text tool. It covers entering text, spell checking, selecting fonts (including single-line fonts for engraving), adjusting text height and alignment, and editing the resulting text entity after creation.

  1. Go to the Design tab > Create Vector section and click the Draw Text icon.
  2. In the Create Text dialog, enter text into the text field, or use the Paste option. For a larger entry area, use the Larger Edit option.
  3. Notice the on-screen box representing the text height and alignment (initially center). These will update as you change settings.
  4. If a word is underlined in red, right-click it and go to Spell Checker. Choose a suggested alternative or select Add Word to add it to the dictionary. You can also remove words from the dictionary from the same menu.
  5. Select a font:
    • TrueType fonts are installed on your computer. Scroll through the list, or press a letter key to jump to that section.
    • Previously used fonts appear at the top under Favorites. Up to five are shown by default; the number can be changed in the Edit Options menu.
    • Single Line Fonts are included with the software and are ideal for engraving applications.
  6. Apply formatting options: set Bold, Italic, or both. Choose alignment (Left, Center, Right).
  7. Adjust the Text Height and, if precise placement is needed, enter the X/Y Position to anchor the text.
  8. When satisfied, close the dialog. The text remains a live text entity, so you can move, rotate, or rescale it as needed.
  9. To edit the text later, select the text and reopen the Draw Text tool. Change the text in the field—the on-screen text updates automatically.
  • The box shown while entering text indicates the current height and anchor alignment, not the final position necessarily.
  • Red underlining is spell-check feedback; you can add words to the dictionary to remove the underline.
  • TrueType fonts come from your system; single-line fonts are bundled with Vectric software and are suitable for engraving.
  • Favorite fonts display the last five used by default. You can adjust this count in the Edit Options menu.
  • Text stays editable as a text entity after closing the dialog. You can move, rotate, and scale it without losing text editability.
