How to draw a polygon in Vectric software | Creating Vectors
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This video demonstrates how to create and edit polygons using the Draw Polygon tool in Vectric software. It covers setting the number of sides, drawing the shape by click-drag from a center point, adjusting radius or side length, duplicating shapes, and editing existing polygons.
- Go to the Design tab and under Create Vectors, select Draw Polygon.
- In the Draw Polygon form, set the number of sides using the arrow buttons or by typing a value (e.g., 5).
- Move into the job space and click with the left mouse button where you want the polygon’s center to be.
- Click and drag outward to increase the polygon size, or drag inward to decrease it. A radius value is shown near the cursor while dragging.
- Release the mouse to create the polygon.
- To edit the newly created polygon, use the form fields:
- Adjust Radius and press Enter, or
- Adjust Side Length and press Enter.
- To create an exact duplicate, click in position again using the same settings.
- To edit an existing polygon, hold Shift and select the shape, then modify its parameters in the form.
- To change the number of sides, enter a new value or use the arrow keys in the form, then press Apply.
- Close the form. The polygon remains editable during transform mode via the same radius/side-length handles or numeric fields.
- Press E to reopen the Draw Polygon tool form and make further adjustments to the selected polygon.
Key Points / Warnings
Section titled “Key Points / Warnings”- Polygons are drawn from the center point where you first click.
- The live radius readout next to the cursor helps control size while dragging.
- The Radius field affects the overall polygon size; the Side Length field sets the length of each side.
- You can press Enter after typing values in radius/side-length fields to commit the change.
- Hold Shift and select a polygon to edit it with the Draw Polygon form.
- Press Apply after changing the number of sides for the update to take effect.
- After creation, polygons remain editable in transform mode using the same handles or numeric entry fields.
- Press E to quickly reopen the Draw Polygon form for editing.
