How to draw a star in Vectric software | Creating Vectors
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This video demonstrates how to create and edit stars using the Draw Star tool in Vectric software. It covers setting the number of points, drawing stars manually, adjusting inner/outer radii, duplicating stars, and editing existing stars.
- Open the Draw Star tool: In the Design tab, under Create Vectors, click the star icon.
- Set the number of points using the arrow buttons or by typing a value into the field.
- Draw the star in the job space:
- Press and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag outward to enlarge, or inward to shrink.
- Release the mouse button to create the star.
- (Optional) Adjust the outer radius:
- Drag the outer radius handle, or
- Type an exact value into the outer radius field and press Enter.
- (Optional) Adjust the inner radius:
- Drag the inner radius handle, or
- Type an exact value into the inner radius field and press Enter.
- (Optional) Change the number of points after creation:
- Adjust the point count using the arrows.
- Press Apply. The existing inner/outer radii are retained.
- (Optional) Create duplicates:
- With the Draw Star tool still active, click in the job space where you want duplicates. They will use the exact same settings.
- (Optional) Edit other stars in the job:
- Hold Shift and select a star.
- Adjust it using handles, fields, or the form.
- Close the Draw Star tool by pressing Close.
- After exiting the tool, you can still edit radii in Transform mode:
- Use the inner/outer radius handles.
- Press E on the keyboard to reopen the original creation form and edit parameters like the number of points.
Key Points / Warnings
Section titled “Key Points / Warnings”- The outer radius is measured from any outer point to the star’s centre.
- The inner radius is measured from the centre to an inner point.
- Typing values followed by Enter updates the star precisely.
- Changing the number of points and pressing Apply preserves the current inner and outer radii.
- Duplicates created while still in the Draw Star tool will match the original star’s settings.
- Use Shift+click to select and edit other stars while the Draw Star tool is active.
- Pressing E after exiting the tool reopens the Draw Star form for the selected star.
