How to Add a Draft to a Component in Vectric Aspire | Model Editing Tools
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This video demonstrates how to add an angled draft to a vertical edge of a 3D model using the Add Draft to Model tool in Vectric Aspire. The tool creates a new component with the specified draft angle while preserving the original model.
- Ensure the model(s) you want to modify are visible in the project — the tool applies to all visible models, so no selection is required.
- In the model editing tools, select Create a component from visible model with draft added.
- The Add Draft to Model form appears. Set the desired draft angle using the slider or by entering an exact value (e.g., 25 degrees).
- Click Apply to apply the draft to all visible models.
- Close the form and go to the Components tab to see the new component. It will be named with the applied draft angle (e.g., “model with 25 degree draft”).
Key Points / Warnings
Section titled “Key Points / Warnings”- No selection is needed — the tool affects every visible model in the project.
- A new component is always created with the draft applied; the original model remains unchanged.
- The draft angle is included in the new component’s name, making it easy to identify.
- Use the visibility toggle to compare the original model and the drafted version.
