How to use sheets in Vectric software | General Topics

This video explains how to use the Sheets feature in Vectric software to organise a project across multiple materials. It covers creating and editing sheets, copying/moving vectors between sheets, managing sheet visibility, and preparing sheets for toolpath creation.

  1. Open or create a project

    • Start with an existing design that contains all vectors, e.g. a sign layout.
    • This original sheet can be used as a master design sheet.
  2. Access Sheet Management

    • Open the Sheets tab on the left side of the interface.
    • Sheets can also be accessed from the dropdown menu at the top.
  3. Create a new sheet

    • Click Add New at the bottom of the Sheets panel.
    • A new sheet is created with the same XYZ values as the current sheet.
    • Rename the sheet, e.g. Cherry.
    • Keep or edit the dimensions as required.
  4. Switch between sheets

    • Double-click a sheet in the 2D view.
    • Or double-click a sheet name in the Sheets list.
  5. Copy vectors to a sheet

    • Select the vectors needed for that material.
    • Right-click and choose Copy to Sheet, then select the destination sheet.
    • Use Move to Sheet if you do not want to keep the vectors on the original sheet.
    • For the master design sheet, use Copy so the original layout remains intact.
  6. Add a white acrylic sheet

    • Click Add New, name it White Acrylic.
    • Click Edit to set:
      • Width: 18”
      • Height: 8”
      • Thickness: 0.25”
      • Z0: Material Surface
      • XY origin: Lower Left
    • Copy the welcome text vectors to this sheet.
    • Reposition vectors manually because copied items keep their original XY position relative to X0/Y0.
  7. Add a black acrylic sheet

    • Click Add New, name it Black Acrylic.
    • Dimensions are inherited from the last created sheet; adjust if needed.
    • Copy the “To Our Home” text and the two arrow vectors to this sheet.
    • Arrange the vectors to minimise material wastage.
  8. Toggle sheet visibility

    • Use the visibility button next to each sheet in the Sheets list to show/hide inactive sheets.
  9. Add an MDF sheet

    • Click Add New, name it MDF.
    • Click Edit and set:
      • Width: 24”
      • Height: 15”
      • Thickness: 0.375”
      • Z0 and XY origin unchanged.
    • Copy the outer and inner border vectors to the MDF sheet.
  10. Edit multiple sheets

    • In the Sheets list, Ctrl+click to select multiple sheets, e.g. Black Acrylic and White Acrylic.
    • Click Edit and update shared properties, e.g. thickness changed from 0.25” to 0.26”.
    • Both selected sheets are updated.
