How to use level effects, clipping and mirror mode in Vectric software | 3D Assembly

This video introduces level effects in Vectric software: Clipping and Mirror Mode. These are non-destructive ways to edit 3D clip art, letting you control which parts of a component are visible and create symmetrical or quadrant-based composite designs. The workflow is then applied to build a coat of arms.

  1. Open the example file level_effect_intros and switch to the 3D view.
  2. Locate the Clipping and Mirror Mode levels in the Layers and Components tree.
  3. To apply clipping:
    • Select the fish component.
    • Select the circle vector.
    • Right-click the level → ClippingApply.
  4. Move the fish to see that only the area inside the circle remains visible.
  5. If you move the circle vector, update the clipping:
    • Right-click ClippingUpdate.
  6. Create a vector boundary around the clipped result:
    • Go to the Design tab.
    • Select Create Vector Boundary around Selected Components.
    • Turn off the fish component to inspect the boundary – it will only follow the visible, unclipped area. 7
