How to edit bitmaps in Vectric software | Editing Objects
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This video demonstrates how to import and edit bitmap images within Vectric Aspire using the Edit Bitmap tool and Picture Editor. It covers the available image adjustments—contrast, brightness, gamma, invert, grayscale, and border/fade options—and how to apply them before further vector work.
- Open the Edit Bitmap tool and import an image.
- Select the imported bitmap and resize it by dragging a transform handle while holding Shift to maintain proportions.
- With the bitmap selected, open the Picture Editor options.
- Adjust Contrast using the slider:
- Left: emphasizes darker areas.
- Right: emphasizes lighter areas.
- Double-click the slider or value to return it to the middle.
- Adjust Brightness:
- Right: makes the image brighter.
- Left: makes the image darker.
- Adjust Gamma to change perceived lightness/darkness while retaining detail:
- Left: darker.
- Right: lighter.
- Enable Invert to reverse colors—whites become black and blacks become white.
- Enable Grayscale to convert the image to black and white.

- When satisfied, click Apply to commit the changes.
Key Points / Warnings
Section titled “Key Points / Warnings”- Double-clicking a slider or value resets that adjustment to its default center position.
- Gamma is different from brightness: it can make the image lighter or darker while preserving more detail.
- Grayscale mode is useful before using the Trace Bitmap tool for vector creation.
- The border/fade option is helpful for photo v-carving workflows.
- Changes are not final until Apply is clicked.
