How to draw an ellipse in Vectric software | Creating Vectors

This video demonstrates how to draw an ellipse in Vectric software using the “Draw Ellipse” tool. It covers freehand creation, resizing, precise dimension entry, moving, and editing existing ellipses.

  1. In the Design tab, under Create Vectors, click the Draw Ellipse icon to open the form.
  2. To draw freely, click and hold the left mouse button at the desired center point.
  3. Drag the mouse to set the width and height; release to create the ellipse.
  4. To create another ellipse of the same size, simply click elsewhere in the job space.
  5. To resize an ellipse:
    • Drag a corner handle to scale width and height proportionally.
    • Drag a side handle to adjust width or height independently.
    • Type precise values into the width/height fields and press Enter.
  6. To move the ellipse, click and drag its center point.
  7. To edit an existing ellipse:
    • Hold Shift and click the ellipse to enable editing, then adjust handles or fields and click Apply.
    • Or select the ellipse and press E to reopen the form used to create it.
  • The on-screen coordinate guides show the exact center (e.g., X:5, Y:5) for accurate placement.
  • Dragging diagonally adjusts both axes at the same time.
  • Corner handles scale proportionally but relative to the opposite handle (anchor point).
  • Press Enter to commit typed dimension values.
  • Use Undo to remove unwanted ellipses.
  • Click Close to exit the Draw Ellipse form when finished.
