Put a model in a dish recess | Modeling

This tutorial demonstrates how to add a 3D model to a dish shape using the multiply combine mode in Vectric Aspire V12. The process involves creating a dish shape, adding a zero plane, importing a 3D model, and using the multiply combine mode to ensure the model fits within the dish.

  1. Create a new file with a single-sided job, specifying the width, height, and material thickness.
  2. Set the modeling resolution to high and choose a material (e.g., Canadian maple).
  3. Import a dish shape from the clipart library and modify its dimensions as needed.
  4. Convert the dish shape to a subtract component to create a recessed dish.
  5. Add a zero plane to the design to minimize machining complications.
  6. Import a 3D model (e.g., a horse’s head) and adjust its size and position within the dish.
  7. Use the multiply combine mode to ensure the model fits within the dish, retaining most of the detail.
  8. Organize the component tree by creating separate levels for the models, multiply, and dish shape.
  9. Make a copy of the dish shape and zero plane in the multiply level.
  10. Adjust the combined mode and scaling of the dish shape in the multiply level to achieve the desired result.
  • Use a high modeling resolution when working with 3D content.
  • The zero plane is automatically hidden in the 2D view, but it is visible in the component tree.
