How to create vector boundaries around vectors in Vectric software | Editing Objects
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This video explains how to use the Vector Boundary Tool in Vectric software to create offset or rubber-band style vector boundaries around selected vectors. It covers both single and multi-vector selections, and how the offset distance interacts with each boundary type.
- Select the Vector Boundary tool from
Drawing tab → Edit Objects. - In the tool options, set an Offset Boundary distance in the provided field (e.g.
0.25 inches). - Select one or more vectors and click Create Boundary:
- Single vector: creates one offset boundary around the vector.
- Multiple vectors: creates an offset boundary around each selected vector individually.
- To create a group boundary, check the Rubber Band Boundary option.
- With the vectors selected, click Create Boundary again:
- Generates a single boundary wrapping around all selected vectors as a group.
- If an offset distance is set, the rubber-band boundary is expanded by that offset.
- Use this rubber-band boundary for nesting or keeping a group of objects together.
Key Points / Warnings
Section titled “Key Points / Warnings”- The Offset Boundary option with multiple vectors creates separate boundaries for each vector, not one combined boundary.
- The Rubber Band Boundary does not weld vectors together; it simply places a boundary around the selection as if a rubber band were stretched around them.
- The offset distance applies to both the standard offset boundary and the rubber-band boundary.
- Rubber-band boundaries with an offset are useful for grouping objects during nesting operations.
